When it comes to golf it’s always been one of those sports people try and sort of leave as it’s harder than just hitting a ball with a club. But with the increase in popularity from celebrities playing golf such as Michael Phelps, Mark Wahlberg and Selena Gomez to name just but a few, it has made people stop and give some real thought to taking up golf as a full-time hobby and with that taking up golf lessons.
What are the benefits of golf lessons?
There is certainly a lot of benefits to having golf lessons, especially right from the start of your golf adventure:
1. You get to know your equipment
There are a variety of different golf clubs and industry jargon connected to golf and it can be a little overwhelming for a beginner in the sport. When you have your golf lessons with the team here in Maynooth, we will explain in as much detail and in the simplest way possible, what each of the terms means and what each of the pieces of equipment should be used for as well as providing you with practical examples.
2. Improve on your technique
It’s probably not a secret to anyone that the more you practice the more you’ll improve, however, the benefit of being taught proper technique from the get go and having tailored 1-2-1 lessons with a professional can go a long way. You’ll find that your technique will improve and you’ll avoid learning any bad habits and you’ll do so at a faster rate than you would just going down the range and hitting some balls until you get it right.
3. The chance to learn from a professional
We’ve touched on this a little bit before, but having a 1-2-1 session with someone who knows what they’re doing and how best to help you improve your game is absolutely crucial. You’ll save hundreds of hours of training on your own if you get the tailored sessions with your instructor, not only will it mean you learn faster, but it’s also a heap of fun! All your lessons will be engaging, beneficial but also practical and exciting, you won’t want to go home!
4. Learn the etiquette and technicalities of golf
There’s more to golf than just hitting the ball and getting it into the hole, your mentor will teach you about where you’re allowed to walk on the golf course and all the other etiquette involved with golfing.
Knowing this etiquette not only makes you a nicer golfer to share the course with, but it actually keeps you and other golfers safer. You don’t want to be caught wandering out into the middle of the course and see a ball flying towards you when you shouldn’t be there in the first place.
Now you know the etiquette, it’s also important to understand the rules of golf, in your lessons you’ll be taught things such as how long the average game will take, what to do if you lose your ball, how to keep score and all the other technical nuggets of information you may need.
